Crimean Tatar doctor working in Azovstal asks Turkey for help

He asks that the lives of Mariupol citizens and Ukrainian defenders be saved. Those at Azovstal are suffering, and some even dying, from the lack of medicine and food. People are dying, some from bullets, some from hunger; the wounded are dying from the lack of medicine, from the terrible conditions. We don't have time, we don't know if there will be a tomorrow. I am a Muslim, a Crimean Tatar, a descendant of the Girays. Before the occupation I was studying medicine. I am currently giving medical assistance to the wounded at Azovstal. Before the war, I had never seen death. I was working on an ambulance. I have always helped people in every way I could. But here, now, in 2022, it pains me to see people dying from infected wounds, from the lack of antibiotics. We are constantly being bombarded from air, sea, and land. I ask you to put in place a procedure to help all people, including the military, leave Azovstal. Stop this nightmare."
