One character who won't be returning for Criminal Minds: Evolution's second season is Josh Stewart's NOPD detective William LaMontagne.

The star, who first appeared in the second season of crime drama Criminal Minds where his character was married to Special Agent JJ Jareau, recently confirmed his exit from the role.

During season 1 of the revival series, which served as the 16th overall season of Criminal Minds, Stewart's character revealed that he had cancer.

When asked on Twitter/ X if he would be back for season 2 of Evolution, he said: "No, sadly, my days of playing Will LaMontagne Jr. are over. You guys have been the absolute best."

Criminal Minds airs on CBS in the US and is streaming via STAR on Disney+ in the UK.
