Shemar Moore called in a favor to his longtime fans, and it looks like his request just came true.

In late February, CBS announced in an official press release plans to renew a number of its top shows on the network. But when fans saw titles like NCIS, The Equalizer and the newest hit Fire Country on the list, they realized that the fate for S.W.A.T. season 7 still hung in the balance. They weren't the only ones who recognized this anomaly — the cast did as well. When TVLine asked their readers to vote for which show they would like to see score another set of episodes, Shemar reached out to his loyal fanbase on Instagram to help the procedural drama win the top spot.

"Ayyeee!!! HOMIES, FANS, AND BABY GIRLS!!!" he captioned the post featuring him as his character Sgt. Dan "Hondo" Harrelson on March 15. "Tap the link in my BIO and go place your vote! Let’s ROLL SWAT into an ALL NEW SEASON 👊🏽💪🏽💥🔥."

Because Shemar curated quite a following since his time on Criminal Minds, it didn't take long for folks to respond to his request. What's more, they replied back that they were on the mission to help him succeed.

"Already voted, they darn well better not cancel you! There will be a riot! 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️," one fan wrote in the comments on Instagram. "VOTED! 🔥❤️✌🏼 KEEP THOSE SEASONS COMING," another exclaimed. "Just voted!! They can't cancel this show! I'd be so sad!" a different user pleaded.

So, since TVLine's poll officially closed on March 22, did the Young and the Restless alum's efforts come to fruition? Looks like it did, because the S.W.A.T. writers' room's official Instagram shared just a few hours later that the "fam has spoken" in hopes for a season 7.

While it's unclear whether CBS will listen to the cries of dedicated folks, Deadline did report in February that the show is currently undergoing negotiations for another go-around. As the outlet wrote, "there are no major hurdles, with sources optimistic that a compromise on budget and other points would be reached."

Most recently, S.W.A.T. executive producer Shawn Ryan spoke on The Hollywood Reporter podcast, TV's Top 5, and revealed what the holdup is.

“Right now, it’s up in the air whether S.W.A.T. will get picked up for a seventh season and that has nothing to do with ratings,” he told the outlet. “There’s no reason why the show shouldn’t be picked up other than the economics of the business are changing, and CBS and [lead producer] Sony [Pictures Television] will or will not figure out a way to economically make a seventh season work.”

Well, until Shemar gives us an update, we'll keep our fingers crossed for S.W.A.T. to come back.
