The Sandusky County Health Department's Sanitation Division reported the following critical violations during food inspections between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28:

Biggby Coffee, 426 E. State St., Fremont, Violations: Food must be stored to avoid cross contamination — open bag of bagels in cooking area (corrected); observed a spray bottle of ammonia cleaner that was hooked on the cart used to store tea bags (corrected).

Bud's Tavern LLC, 1730 W. State St., Fremont. Violation: Unlabeled and undated container of pasta in the white refrigerator.

Burger King Restaurant No. 614, 2250 N. Ohio 53, North, Fremont. Violations: Cross contamination - Uncovered items in chicken cooler, burger cooler, uncovered bun and other items in prep area; dirty pair of tongs above egg cooler (corrected); uncooked bacon left on counter with no time or temperature control (corrected).

Chipotle Mexican Grill No. 3780, 851 Sean Drive, Fremont. Violations: Container of uncovered tortilla chips on shelf closest to ground; sanitation buckets throughout establishment and concentration of ammonium compound solution was too low; hot food must be held at 135 degrees and a container of beef was 128 degrees and container of rice was 117 degrees; cockroach feces found under warewashing area (person in charge stated commercial pesticides are in regular use).

Club Rog, 2460 W. McPherson Highway, Fremont. Violations: Convection oven had dirt and debris, pizza press had rodent feces and leaking oil, auto fryer basket has grease deposits and ice machine had mold growth; multiple pesticide cans visible and only licensed commercial applicator can use pesticide in business (spray cans locked up); thermometer was a meat thermometer that could not read below 120 degrees; rodent fecal matter found in various areas of kitchen and bar area.

Days Inn, 3701 N. Ohio 53, Fremont. Violations: Apples should be washed and wrapped in plastic or another protective barrier; rodent droppings observed under cabinets used for continental breakfast area; no indirect connection on the prep sink or three compartment sink as required.

Elroy's Deli Market/Scarpetta's, 105 S. Front St., Fremont. Violations: Open packages of olives and pickles in prep cooler, large pot of food in walk-in cooler with no lid, employee's drinking cup had no lid (corrected); panini press was dirty, ice machine had mold, ice chute on soda machine had mold; asterisking required for animal-derived foods that may be undercooked.

Fricker's, 865 Sean Drive, Fremont. Violation: Pizza sauce was 115 degrees on steam table and must be 165 degrees (corrected).

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 1712 W. State St., Fremont. Violations: Open bag of raw chicken in walk-in cooler and it must be sealed; thermometer was tested and was one-degree off.

Lee's Famous Recipe, 322 E. State St., Fremont. Violations: Raw chicken in walk-in cooler uncovered and container to soak potatoes in had chipped lid and water from condenser was dripping on lid; areas need cleaning including ice maker that has mold, pie pans stored on an unsanitized shelf and dirty can opener; green beans were 88 degrees after two hours of cooling and should be cooled to required 41 degrees; potatoes not washed before cooking and they must be prewashed.

Oogie's Country Pizza Inc./Oogies LLC, 143 W. Madison, Gibsonburg. Violation: No vegetable prep sink with an indirect connection or air gap in the facility.

Pizza Hut, 1332 Oak Harbor Road, Fremont. Violations: Container of croutons with no date on prep table and pasta with no discard date in prep cooker (corrected); thermometer needed to be calibrated.

Spring Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 401 N. Broadway, Green Springs. Violation: Prep sink had a garbage disposal which needs to be removed to prevent backflow.

West State Sports Bar and Grille, 1528 W. State St., Fremont. Violations: The prep table, grill, griddle, fryer, convection oven and all utensils used such as spatulas, tongs. and laddels shall be sanitized before use after cleaning; the soda stream nozzles at the bar had debris, lower shelving between cooking area and cooler held dirty cooking instruments, the ice machine had a heavy amount of mold buildup, mold on various food containers in the two-door cooler; the two-door Superior cooler was found to be between 44 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit and should be 41; various foods found in the walk-in cooler and the kitchen cooler lacked proper date marking; containers of condiments made in-house were unrefrigerated and premade sauces and juices were not refrigerated that were labeled for refrigeration; must include asterisking on the animal-derived foods requiring disclosure to a footnote; reuse of cardboard boxes in the cooler for produce that cannot be cleaned or sanitized and spatulas showed signs of wear and prohibited proper cleaning procedures. Follow Up Visit: Significant improvements and corrections made. Violations: Salsa in cooler that was to be discarded on Jan. 31 (corrected); Superior cooler was 47 degrees and must be 41 degrees.
