Cross country athletes dominate 2022 Garaway Wall Fame honorees
Three cross country teams and six individual runners will be honored as the 2022 Garaway Wall of Fame Ceremony will be held before the high school football game on Friday, Sept 2 at Burke Wentz Stadium in Sugarcreek.
The inductees are as follows:
2011 Boys CC Team - The 2011 team was Tuscarawas County Runners-Up, IVC Champions, Division III District and Regional Champions, placed 11th at the state meet (3rd team appearance in school history and first since 2001). Individually, the team was led by All-Ohioan Logan Kettlewell and state qualifier Brady Yoder. Team Members: Josh Newman, Montie Ohler, Zeb Misko, Brady Yoder, Logan Kettlewell, Ben Braun, Alex Shrock, Ethan Schlarb, Zeke Misko, Blake Yoder, Caleb Morehart, Jeremiah Haynes, Samuel Wentworth.
2012 Boys CC Team - The 2012 boys team finished in top four of all major Ohio invitationals, Tusc County, IVC, Division III district, and regional champions, 3rd place at state. Led by Kettlewell (3-time All-Ohio), Yoder and Alex Shrock (All-Ohio). Competed in Nike Regional, placing 34th. Team Members: Nathan Alderfer, Brady Yoder, Logan Kettlewell, Ben Braun, Alex Shrock, Logan Hershberger, Blake Yoder, Caleb Morehart, Samuel Wentworth, Dakota Thomas, Luke Warkall
2012 Girls CC Team - The 2012 girls team placed in top 10 of all major Ohio invitationals, claimed 3rd straight IVC title, Division III district title, regional runner-up, placed 8th at state in the program's then 2nd girls appearance in history. Led by two-time All-Ohioan Kenzie Widder, All-Ohioan Rachel Wentworth, and state qualifier Anna Havranek. Competed in Nike Regional, placing 25th overall. Team Members: Alyssa Lower, Sophia Feller, Madison Widder, Brooke Detweiler, Destinee Hershberger, Anna Havranek, Madison Mullen, Alissa West, Kenzie Widder, Corbin Hershberger, Amber Immel, Shanna Jones, Alexis Miller, Courtney Miller, Rachel Wentworth.
Logan Kettlewell - Cross Country: 3-time all-Ohio 2010-2012 (20th, 19th, 8th place), Holds 5000m record 15:51. Track: All-Ohio 1600m (4th place) 2013. Lettered in cross country at Kent State University.
Brady Yoder - Cross Country: All-Ohio 2012 (16th place), member of two state qualifying teams. Ran collegiately at Malone University.
Alex Shrock - Cross Country: Two-time all-Ohio 2012-2013 (20th and 7th Place), Track: All-Ohio 2014, 3200m (6th place). Holds 3200m school record at 9:40.21. Ran cross country and track at Cedarville University.
Rachel Wentworth-Yost: - Cross Country: 4-time All-Ohio 2012-2015 (10th, 5th, 5th, 6th place), holds 5000m record 18:14.6, Track: 3-time all-Ohio 3200m (4th, 3rd, 4th places), holds school records in 1600m (5:11.22), 3200m (11:00.92) and is a member of the record 4x8 team (9:56.17). Held 800m record at 2:23.9 until the 2022 season. Ran cross and track at Malone University where she was a 3-time academic all-American and 2016 GMAC rookie of the year.
Kenzie Widder-Hill - Cross Country: 3-time all-Ohio 2011-12, 2014, 4-time state qualifier. Track: member of school record holding 4x800 team. Ran cross and track at Roberts Wesleyan University. Along with Wentworth, a member of the division III state runner up girls cross country team in 2014.
Anna Havranek - Cross Country: 2013 All-Ohio in cross country (20th place), 2-time state qualifier. Track: member of the 2014 school record 4x8 team along with Wentworth, Widder, and Ariel Wentworth. Ran cross and track at Shawnee State University, three-time collegiate all-American, National Runner-up in the 10k.
