Cross Country: Hillsdale Academy boys, girls teams sweep SCAA team titles

PITTSFORD — Pittsford hosted the SCAA championship cross country race on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The 5,000-meter race would mark the end of the regular season for Camden-Frontier, Will Carleton Academy, Hillsdale Academy, Pittsford and Waldron cross country teams.

The final jamboree of the season would also mark the overall league champions for the season. The top 15 runners on varsity would earn All-Conference accolades.

The top 10 in middle school races would earn all-league honors. Starting with the middle school teams, the race was won by Jonah Cuthbert of Hillsdale Academy. Also earning All-Conference honors was Colts Ryan Miller, Gus Heath, Timothy Gaebler, Stephen Holm and John Birzer. In the girls race, Colt Allie Miller took second. Also earning all-league status was Colts Heather Morris and Grace Brownlee. Pittsford's Lillian Jagielski took fifth to earn all-league honors. WCA athletes Alicia Mack and Grace Williams took ninth and 10th to earn all-conference honors. Their times and results can be found at athletic.net.

The varsity girls race was won by Hillsdale Academy. The Colts also took home the 2022 league title. Izzy Brooks from Lenawee Christian took first overall. Senior Megan Roberts from Hillsdale Academy took second. Ava Mallar and Brooke Smith from Pittsford took third and fourth, respectively. The Wildcats took second overall in the race and league title chase.

Also earning top 10 finishes were Colts' Ruth Brownlee, Ella Walton, and Whitney Wilkinson. Wildcat Riley McCumber also earned a top-10 finish. Earning top 15 finishes for the Colts were Abby Brownlee, Madison Sallows, Caroline Roberts and Iris Milles. Camden-Frontier's Taylor Lautermilch took 13th overall. All of the above athletes earned All-League honors, and their names are highlighted in bold in the results below.

For the boys race, Hillsdale Academy took first place and won the 2022 league title. Junior Thomas Holm took first overall in the race, another win for his impressive season. Colts' Grasyon Rorick and Reece Poole took second and third. Senior Kade Spahr of Pittsford took fifth overall. Caleb Diener took eighth overall for Hillsdale Academy. All of those athletes earned all-conference honors for their seasons.
