Cross Country Regionals: Ross, Brooks win individual titles

JACKSON — Nine Lenawee County schools traveled to Ella Sharp Park Friday for the Division 3 and Division 4 MHSAA cross country regional championships.

Nine individual runners qualified for the MHSAA state championship meet while three teams qualified to make the short trip to Michigan International Speedway Saturday, Nov. 5.

Division 3

Onsted sophomore Emmry Ross continued her terrific season by winning the regional title and helping the Wildcats take third overall to advance to the state meet. Onsted had a team score of 63 while Hudson took sixth (140) and Sand Creek took ninth (236).

Hudson sophomore Jayla Bright took 17th (21:14.1), but had the sixth best time for a runner outside of the top three schools (Jackson Lumen Christi, Leslie and Onsted), so she will advance to the state meet

On the boys side, no teams qualified, but three runners advanced to the state meet as Hudson junior Alex Czeiszperger, Madison senior Henry Frederick and Onsted senior Brody Amthor all finished in the top 15.

Hudson took fourth with a score of 145 while Madison (150) was fifth, Onsetd was 13th (323) and Sand Creek was 15th (406).

Kara Terakedis, Onsted: 19:20.5, 3rd

Boys Race

Alex Czeiszperger, Hudson: 16:54.1, 6th

Henry Frederick, Madison: 17:16.6, 8th

Brody Amthor, Onsted: 17:17.4, 9th

Division 4

The Lenawee Christian boys and girls teams advanced to the state meet as it the boys took second with a score of 60, trailing Hillsdale Academy (49). Morenci (105) took fourth while Addison took ninth (248). The girls team took third with a score of 79 while Addison was fourth (105).

Morenci senior Bryson Bachelder advanced to the state meet as he took 11th in the race.

LCS sophomore Izzy Brooks won the girls race while Morenci sophomore Emersyn Bachelder, Addison sophomore Stephanie Hernandez, Britton Deerfield sophomore Aubrey Appleman and Morenci junior Leah Rorick qualified as well. Rorick took 18th overall, but was one of the top seven runners outside of the top three schools to advance with a time of 22:49.9
