Crossing guard hit by car in Towson is flown to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries

A crossing guard was critically injured after being hit by a car in Towson on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Baltimore County Police said they were called around 3:45 p.m. to the 800 block of Providence Road near Cromwell Valley Elementary School.

Details about the incident were sparse, but the department said the driver of the car stayed at the scene and that the victim was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma. The crossing guard was said to have life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said the driver of the 2000 Acura that struck the guard showed no signs of impairment.

Members of the Baltimore County Police Critical Incident Team also responded to offer emotional support to the school, staff and students.
