Crossville man reports unprovoked knife attack

Feb. 1—A Crossville man was treated at Cumberland Medical Center's emergency room to stab wounds to the head that he said were inflicted by an unknown assailant Sunday around noon.

Crossville Police Mpl. Samantha Seay wrote she was dispatched to the emergency room where she met with Jesse Clark, 54, Fourth St., Crossville.

Clark told the officer, according to the report, he was in the chapel at the Bread of Life when a "short, stocky male with black beard and wearing a black coat with a cowboy hat on" entered the chapel.

Clark told the man he was not allowed in the chapel at that time and turned to walk away.

He told police the next thing he knew, he was stabbed in the back of the head.

The report does not indicate whether there were witnesses. It does say no one called 911, and there was no surveillance video available for police to review.

The incident remains open.
