Crowd Sings 'We Are the Champions' Ahead of Brexit in London's Parliament Square

Crowds gathered to celebrate the United Kingdom leaving the European Union in London’s Parliament Square on January 31, with some breaking into a rendition of the classic Queen song We Are the Champions.

Britain was due to leave the union at midnight in Brussels – 11 pm in London – marking an end to its 47 years of membership in what would become the European Union.

The exit began a transition period, scheduled to end on December 31, wherein Britain’s future relationship with the union is to be decided. Both pro- and anti-Brexit events were held across the UK to mark the occasion. Credit: Meghan Bobrowsky via Storyful
