Crowder College Theatre to present 'The Diviners'

Feb. 27—NEOSHO, Mo. — Next week, Crowder College Theatre will present "The Diviners," written by Jim Leonard Jr. and directed by Annie Smith. Shows will be at 7 p.m. March 7-9 in the Elsie Plaster Community Center on the Crowder College campus.

The college said this is the first major production since technology updates to stage lighting and equipment have been completed.

"We are thrilled to show the community the new improvements in the theatre with this production of 'The Diviners,' a story that is equally heartwarming and heartbreaking," Smith said in a statement.

"The Diviners" is the story of a teen girl afraid of water and a disenchanted preacher who strike up a friendship in 1930s southern Indiana. When the girl was young, she nearly drowned, leaving her with trauma and a longing for her lost mother. The preacher, set on breaking away from a long line of Kentucky family preachers, is determined not to do what he does best.

Tickets are available for purchase at https://crowderbookstore.com/product/the-diviners. The cost is $10 for adults; $8 for those 62 or older; $6 for children ages 2-12; and $8 for Crowder students, faculty and staff.
