Crowder defeats Northeastern 14-6 in rainy conditions, opening their season 3-0

NEOSHO, Mo. — The Crowder Roughriders softball team opened their 2024 season on Friday with two shutout wins over Northeastern Junior College. Saturday morning, the Roughriders hit the Diamond for another matchup against the Plainswoman.

Despite a wet and rainy game, Crowder poured on the runs to defeat Northeastern 14-6 in five innings.

Their second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to the rain.

As a team, the Roughriders drove in 14 runs on 11 hits with 12 RBI’s. Laynee Tapp was 2-2 with 3 RBIs. Jaley Hayes went 2-3 with 3 RBIs as well along. Jasmine Myers also went 2-3, one RBI that being a solo home run and scored two runs.

Crowder kicks off their season with a 3-0 record. They will travel to Waco, TX to participate in the McLennan Round Robin on Friday and Saturday. The Roughrider’s first contest of the tournament will be against Tyler Junior College on Friday, February 9th at 10 a.m.
