Crowds Gather Outside Tokyo Stadium Ahead of Olympic Games Opening Ceremony

Crowds were seen lining the streets outside the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, ahead of the Games’ opening ceremony on Friday, July 23.

Due to COVID-19 coronavirus restrictions, only a few hundred dignitaries and officials will be permitted access to the 68,000-capacity venue.

Twitter user @AussieinJapan posted the footage saying the gathering of people was “out of control”, adding “imagine if the stadium was actually open”. Credit: @AussieinJapan via Storyful
