Crowds show up for first 'Food Truck Rally'
Crowds of customers showed up Wednesday, Aug. 3, for music and food at the first Oak Ridge Food Truck Rally.
Trucks serving pasta, burgers, tacos and more wheeled in for the event, which took place at 125 East Main Street in Oak Ridge near the intersection with Wilson Street and the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Knoxville Oak Ridge hotel. Some people are describing it as "behind CVS Pharmacy."
The city of Oak Ridge has teamed up with The Chef’s Workshop to host this event every Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. For details on the food trucks coming each Wednesday go to https://thechefsworkshop.com/location/oak-ridge/. A different mix of food trucks are expected.
The Oak Ridge Land Bank has slated the site for new development.
“We chose this location for the rally because it’s the site of the future Downtown Oak Ridge and the area that will be under construction with new mixed-use development in 2023,” Planning and Development Director Wayne Blasius stated in a earlier news release. “We’re looking forward to creating a new heart of Oak Ridge where people will gather, eat, shop and live.”
