Where were you in '22?

Maybe doing the same thing you'll be doing Saturday night.

The spring version of Cruise Night is planned this weekend, with vehicles of all types, colors and sounds going east and west on North First Street. The loop goes from Sonic, 1734 North First, to the former Kmart lot, 4236 North First.

Showtime is 5-7 p.m.

Spectators are welcome to watch from parking lots along the route. Parking on the railroad right-of-way grass is not advised.

Here is a list of egg hunts scheduled for Saturday.

  • Aldersgate Abilene Methodist Church, 1741 Sayles Blvd.. Hunt begins at 10 a.m. in its Community Garden a block to the south.

  • Express ER, 4157 Buffalo Gap Road. "Easter Eggstravaganza" is from 11 a.m. -1 p.m.

  • Lytle South Baptist Church, 1125. E. Industrial Blvd. Hunt begins at 11 a.m.

  • Moose Mountain, 817 South Second St. "Golden Egg Hunt" is from 1-4 p.m.

  • Southern Hills Church of Christ, 3666 Buffalo Gap Road. Extravaganza is from 10 a.m. to noon.

  • Transformation Church, 3150 Vogel St. "Easter Car Hop" is from 1-3 p.m.

Upcoming book signings

Two authors of note will make same-week appearances at Texas Star Trading Co. next week.

  • At 11 a.m. Thursday, Jeff Guinn will be at Texas Star to sign copies of his new work, "Waco: David Koresh, the Branch Davidians, and a Legacy of Rage." Guinn won the A.C. Greene Award at the 2017 West Texas Book Festival. His other works have focused on Charles Manson, Bonnie and Clyde, and cult leader Jim Jones.

  • At 10 a.m. Saturday, John Erickson will be at the downtown book store, 174 Cypress St., to sign copies of his books. He is the author of the 79-book "Hank, the Cowdog" series and was the 2012 Greene Award winners.

The signings each will be two hours.
