Crumbl brings gourmet cookies to Ontario with rotating menu of 250 flavors
ONTARIO − Anyone looking for a sweet treat can head to Ontario Crumbl.
The gourmet cookie store held a VIP sneak peek Wednesday ahead of Friday's grand opening. Those attending were promised "an exclusive tasting journey with our cookie masterpieces."
"We make every cookie from scratch," co-owner Landon Ball said. "We don't get frozen ingredients, anything like that, so it definitely takes time.
"What sets us apart is we have six different cookies every week. Every week, the crew has to relearn the recipes and train."
Ball, who co-owns the store with wife Alex, said there are nearly 70 employees for the location at 2152 Walker Lake Road in the Starbucks plaza.
Couple nibbled on Crumbl cookies when dating
The couple actually bonded over their shared love of Crumbl cookies before they got involved with the franchise.
Ball recalled the dating routine they developed. He said he and Alex would nibble on Crumbl cookies.
"It was a cost-effective date. It was something that kept us coming back," Ball said.
The grand-opening week menu will consist of more than 250 weekly rotating flavors, including Crumbl's award-winning milk chocolate chip. Future lineups of weekly flavors are posted Sunday evenings on all of Crumbl's social media accounts.
"We like to check the new menu each Sunday," Brandy Grove said. "It will definitely be nice to have one close by."
Grove said her family has previously gotten Crumbl cookies at the Columbus store.
Ontario mayor says banana cream pie is his favorite
Ontario Mayor Randy Hutchinson was among the VIPs at Wednesday's event, along with several city council members.
"It's very exciting," he said of the new business coming to town. "It's a great product. Every one I've ever had has been excellent."
Asked for his favorite Crumbl cookie, Hutchinson said the banana cream pie.
As he munched on one of the selections, Rick Pauley said the cookie was "pretty delicious."
"I don't eat a lot of them anymore, but I have a sweet tooth," he said.
As for his favorite Crumbl cookie, Ball listed the dark dream, pink sugar, Reese's peanut butter, Oreo milkshake and milk chocolate.
He also talked about choosing Ontario for the newest franchise. He and his wife have spent months getting ready. Alex was at home with their baby and couldn't be there Wednesday.
"I love Ontario because it pulls from Ashland, Mansfield, Wooster, just pulls from all over," Ball said.
Store is open until midnight on weekends
Patrons will have plenty of opportunities to get their sugar fixes. Ontario Crumbl will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays "to satisfy all the hunger needs," Ball explained.
Customers can choose to get their cookies through delivery, curbside pickup, catering or nationwide shipping, available via the Crumbl app or online at crumblcookies.com.
"We look forward to sharing what we love with everyone in Ontario and Mansfield, and that's cookies," Ball said.
