Crusade, Sovereign Temporarily Close Amid Coronavirus Cases

YORKVILLE, IL — Crusade Burger Bar in Yorkville announced a temporary closure Tuesday after its affiliate restaurant — Sovereign — in Plainfield shut down Sunday due to a few employees testing positive for the coronavirus. According to a Tuesday post on the affiliated restaurants' social media pages, the restaurants said that once they were made aware of an employee experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus, they immediately asked the employee to quarantine and be tested. The restaurants added that the employees who tested positive are doing "very well."

According to a Facebook comment from Sovereign, the employee that tested positive at Crusade last worked Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Sovereign shut down early Sunday — and has been closed since — after the owners received reports about multiple employees testing positive for COVID-19. This is the second time the restaurant has to shut down due to the coronavirus and the owners assure that they're "following all of the directives and advice given by the CDC and various agencies."

The staff members who received positive results have not worked at the restaurant since Aug. 9 and the eatery is closed for extra precaution while the space is deep cleaned and sanitized.

On Tuesday, the post on the Sovereign Facebook page also stated that "some former employees made some statements that we have not acted responsibly and have spread other false statements. We assure you that these statements are grossly exaggerated. We have always placed the safety and well-being of our employees and patrons first and continue to do so."

According to the social media posts, normal business hours will resume "as the coast is clear."

"We will continue to communicate through our social media outlets," the restaurant announced in Tuesday's post.
