Crypto-linked card spending tops $1 bln -Visa

In another sign of cryptocurrency's broadening adoption, Visa said on Wednesday that its customers spent more than $1 billion on its crypto-linked cards in the first half of this year.

The credit card company also said it’s partnering with 50 cryptocurrency platforms to make it easier for customers to convert and spend digital currencies at millions of merchants worldwide. The move comes four months after it said it would allow consumers to use the cryptocurrency, USD Coin, to settle transactions.

But investors have somewhat soured on digital currencies, with the price of Bitcoin plunging from over $63,000 in mid-April to under $35,0000 today.
