Crypto Rebel John McAfee Quits 4-Day Dominican Republic Jail Stay

John McAfee just spent four days in a Dominican Republic jail, reports the AP.

McAfee has been at sea for most of the current season, recently spending some time in Cuba. While McAfee was there, the communist country announced a government blockchain initiative.

The McAfees Arrested Along With Four Friends, Freedom Boat Seized

McAfee was reportedly docking “The Freedom Boat” in Puerto Plata, a northern port in the island nation when authorities took him into custody.

No official statement has been made as to the cause of his initial arrest, but the AP notes that several weapons were seized during the arrest.

The Dominican Republic has had strict gun laws since the early 2000s.
