CSC’S Candle Bakery has ‘Wax-ident’ with Hershey’s

PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) – CSC’S Candle Bakery has been a staple of Mercer County for two years. The small business hand pours and curates all of it’s own products.

However, owners Courtney and Matt Orlicki received a letter in the mail recently about their products. The letter was from the Hershey Company – a cease and desist to be more accurate.

“The pieces themselves I cannot use in my candles because it is a copyright infringement. When I spoke to Hershey on the phone they were very nice and said they did not want to harm any small business.”

The letter stated that even the bar shape is copyrighted.  Courtney purchased the mold from a local store, which she believes is also not in collaboration with Hershey.

Matt Orlicki stated that after all of their hard work and community support, something like this is not worth setting back their entire progress.

“We basically worked day and night for the past two years to get where we are at so we don’t want something like this to ruin it,” said Orlicki.

The owners will be removing the candles from the shelves and hope to create their own candy bar mold for future candles.

Hopefully this ‘wax-ident’ does not happen again.
