CSFD: Construction worker rescued after falling on roof, suffered medical emergency

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) rescued a construction worker on Thursday morning, Jan. 25 after they said he suffered a medical emergency.

According to CSFD at 7:10 a.m. on Thursday, crews were called to the work site located downtown at South Weber and East Cimarron Streets, regarding a construction worker who had fallen.

When crews arrived, they found the worker on the roof of the construction site and said he had fallen about three feet off of a block.

“Due to access issues crews set up for a ladder pick,” wrote CSFD. “They secured a stokes basket to a rope rigging system that was attached to [Truck One’s] ladder and loaded the patient in the basket.”

Crews said the aerial ladder was used to lift the worker over obstacles and lower him to the ground. After the rescue, which took crews a total of 45 minutes, the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
