It turns out the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation team can meet up without a serious crime being committed.

The original cast members from the hit CBS show, which ran for 15 seasons, had a reunion over the weekend, as Marg Helgenberger shared on Instagram.

On Monday, the Catherine Willows actress posted a trio of pictures with her co-stars Eric Szmanda, David Berman, Jorja Fox and Robert David Hall.

She captioned the pictures: "We got the band back together... #friendsforever."

Szmanda replied in the comments: "A truly delightful evening. Love you guys!"

The main CSI show concluded with a two-hour finale back in 2015, but has lived on in a follow-up series in which some of the original cast have starred in.

CSI: Vegas saw William Petersen and Fox return as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle in season 1, before they exited the show to make way for Helgenberger to become the lead series regular.

Ahead of her return to a life of solving crime, the actress told EW: "I had played Catherine Willows for so many years.

"It's like a part of me. In fact, one of the reasons I left the original show is because I felt like it had become too much of my identity."

She added: "I was really burned out, I just kind of had to step away from that character. It wasn't that I was done playing her.

"So in terms of establishing a camaraderie or an instant chemistry [with the new team], it was pretty natural, I have to say, and I think it's because I played this character for so long. It felt great to be back in her boots and her tight jeans."
