Following the announcement last month that William Petersen wouldn't be returning for the second season of CSI: Vegas, the show has lost another original cast member.

Jorja Fox, who plays Sara Sidle, has announced she will also not be returning for another season of the show.

In a statement posted to Twitter, Fox wrote: "Hey all you #CSI fans! After much deliberating, I have decided not to 'Sidle up' for CSI Vegas. For me, CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times.

"And the story that love, even in the darkest of places and times, can expand and grow roots and endure. I personally just can't split Sara and Grissom up again. So goes Grissom…..So goes Sara. Wherever they go, they belong together.

"Thanks for watching everyone!!!!! Keep tuning in! I know I will. CSI VEGAS has an incredible team and it should be an amazing show!"

The CSI: Vegas revival aired last year, more than 20 years after the original series first aired.

Petersen's departure from the show was revealed when the second season was announced by CBS.

While Petersen is no longer be on board as an actor, he will still be working behind the scenes on season two as an executive producer.

When the second season of CSI: Vegas was confirmed, CBS boss Amy Reisenbach said: "The incredibly talented CSI: Vegas creative team and cast did a superb job this first season, brilliantly updating and portraying the CSI universe with fresh stories and a new crime lab...

"The CSI fan base is still hungry for more and ready to embrace a new chapter in this illustrious franchise."

CSI: Vegas airs on CBS in the US. No UK broadcaster has been announced yet.
