CSVT bypass construction continues on Mill Road
Nov. 21—HUMMELS WHARF — The construction of two roundabouts on Mill Road is taking longer than expected as work on the southern section of the Central Susquehanna Valley Thruway (CSVT) continues in Snyder County.
Portions of Mill, Airport and App roads were closed in July due to several construction projects, including the new roundabouts and road realignment, requiring longterm detours.
The plan was to reopen the roads by December, but Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokeswoman Maggie Baker said a delay in utility work is prolonging the Mill Road closure.
"Due to the delay, the roundabouts on Mill Road are still being constructed," Baker said. "To mitigate the impact to local motorists, we plan to open portions of the detour while construction of the roundabouts continue."
The following portion of roadway will reopen in December:
Airport Road between Creek Road and Mill Road, west of the CSVT alignment;
Mill Road to the east of the roundabouts will be opened to App Road;
Mill Road to the west of the roundabouts will be opened between Penns Drive and Airport Road.
A portion of Mill Road between the roundabouts will remain detoured while construction continues.
Meanwhile, Fisher Road will be closed to thru traffic while crews relocate the road. Property owners will still have access, but all other traffic will be detoured to Park Road.
Baker said no date has yet been given for the closure of Fisher Road.
The southern section of the CSVT will connect Route 15 south of Winfield to Route 11-15 north of Selinsgrove. It's expected to be completed in 2027.
