CT Coronavirus Hospitalizations Near 4-Month High

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut’s coronavirus hospitalizations reached a nearly four-month high over the weekend as the state saw a net increase of 21 patients. There were 155 hospitalizations as of Monday; the state hasn’t seen a figure that high since June 18, when there were 172 hospitalizations.

New London County’s coronavirus hospitalizations remained stable at 25 patients over the weekend, however, several counties saw net increases. Fairfield County had a net increase of seven patients up to 42, Hartford had an increase of six to 38, New Haven an increase of five to 36 and Middlesex an increase of four to nine.

The state Department of Public Health reported 1,066 additional coronavirus cases, however, 273 of those were due to catch-up reporting for results between Sept. 26 and Oct. 8. A total of 793 cases were reported out of around 54,000 tests for a positive rate of 1.46 percent.

Connecticut reported another two coronavirus-related deaths, which brought the state total up to 4,532. Since the pandemic began, 61,377 coronavirus cases have been reported.

There have been nearly 1.9 million coronavirus test results reported in Connecticut since the pandemic began. The state is on track to crack 2 million tests in about a week.
