A CT man is being held on $1 million bond on child sex assault charges

A Norwalk man is facing several sexual assault charges related to a minor under the age of 13, police said.

Police have charged Ronal Reniery Sanchez, 34, of 16 Hamilton Ave. with first-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and illegal sexual contact of a child under the age of 13, police said in a statement.

He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Sanchez was charged on an arrest warrant after a “lengthy” investigation, police said in the statement.

“Special Victims Unit detectives conducted many hours of surveillance at different locations in an attempt to locate and arrest Sanchez,” police said.

The warrant was issued March 3 and on April 21, while conducting surveillance at Sanchez’s home, investigators spotted him leaving and took him into custody, police said.

The sexual assault investigation began in November 2022, police said.
