Cubs begin the 2022 season on the road against the Cincinnati Reds and the White Sox host the Minnesota Twins

The Chicago White Sox will begin the 2022 season March 31 with a home game against the Minnesota Twins. Meanwhile, the Cubs kick off next season on the road in Cincinnati to face the Reds.

Major League Baseball released the ‘22 schedules for each team Wednesday.

In addition to playing the Cubs (May 3-4 at Wrigley Field, May 28-29 at Guaranteed Rate Field), the Sox will have interleague games against the National League West. The Cubs will face American League East teams.

The Sox play the Los Angeles Dodgers (June 7-9 at Guaranteed Rate Field), San Francisco Giants (July 1-3 at Oracle Park), Colorado Rockies (July 26-27 at Coors Field, Sept. 13-14 at Guaranteed Rate Field), Arizona Diamondbacks (Aug. 26-28 at Guaranteed Rate Field) and San Diego Padres (Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at Petco Park).

The series against the Padres marks the first time the Sox will end the regular season in a National League ballpark.

The Cubs open the season at Great American Ball Park for the first time since 2007. The three-game series is a brief road trip before returning to Wrigley Field for the home opener April 4 versus the St. Louis Cardinals to begin a six-game homestand against the Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers.

In June, the Cubs will play at Yankee Stadium for the first time since 2014 while the Boston Red Sox’s July trip to Wrigley Field represents their first time at the Friendly Confines since 2012. The Cubs will host the Tampa Bay Rays (April 18-20) and the Baltimore Orioles (July 12-13) and are slated to travel to Baltimore (June 7-8) and Toronto (August 29-31) along with their series with the New York Yankees.

The Cubs are scheduled to play at Wrigley on three holidays next year: Mother’s Day on May 8 versus the Los Angeles Dodgers, Memorial Day on May 30 versus Milwaukee and Father’s Day on June 19 versus the Atlanta Braves. For the Fourth of the July, the Cubs will be in Milwaukee. They do not play on Labor Day.

One of their toughest stretches is a nine-game, 10-day trip to Milwaukee, Toronto and St. Louis from late August into September, their longest road trip of the year. The Cubs end the 2022 season with a six-game homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies and Reds.

Game times will be released at a later date.
