A Cudahy man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for distributing child pornography
A 55-year-old Cudahy resident was recently indicted by a federal grand jury for distributing child pornography.
Court filings indicate Gerald E. Belmore Jr. allegedly used a popular messaging platform to participate in, and act as an "administrator" of, chat rooms dedicated to the exchange and viewing of child pornography, according to a news release from the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
The federal grand jury returned the indictment on March 15, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Richard G. Frohling. An indictment is a charge, not evidence of guilt.
If convicted, Belmore could face a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to 20 years in prison, according to the release.
No trial date has been announced.
A collaborative effort between the Milwaukee Division of the FBI, the U. S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office called Operation Kick Boxer was directly responsible for the indictment, the release said.
A March 22 divorce filing indicates Belmore is in custody at the Dodge County Detention Facility in Juneau, Wisconsin.
