Cuddly cat and timid Chihuahua are available at Wayside Waifs. They’re ready for love

Franny

Breed: Chihuahua mix

Age: 5 years old

Franny is curious and playful, but also still shy and timid. She came from a puppy mill situation, so things can be overwhelming at first.

Patience and positive interactions are crucial, and showing Franny what life and love is all about will be so rewarding for her adopters. As shelter life was hard to adjust to, Franny was sent to a foster family in hopes of teaching her what a real home is like. She’s learned so much, and her foster mom has made her feel safe and special.

So far, Franny has done well in a crate overnight, and she enjoys sitting next to her person on the couch. She has to build trust, so allowing her to explore connections is key. She enjoys running around the yard, playing with toys and munching on yummy treats. Franny has done well with the other dogs in the home. In fact, she should go home to another dog because they give her so much confidence.

Life can be tough, but Franny has made the best of it. She’s ready for the next phase of her journey, and it starts with you. Call 816-986-4426 to schedule a time to meet Franny while she’s in foster care.

Mattie

Mattie

Breed: American shorthair

Age: 9 years old

Mattie has had quite the journey with Wayside Waifs. While we’re unsure of her whereabouts before, she was adopted in 2018 and returned through no fault of her own.

Almost a year later, her angel came to rescue her. Her new mom was a purrfect match for her, and they had a wonderful relationship. Unfortunately, Mattie’s mom passed away in 2021, leaving her ready for another home, but yearning for one as amazing as her previous one.

While she was adopted again, she was recently found as a stray and no one came to claim her. Mattie has been through so much in her life, and she would love someone to take a chance on her because she’s a wonderful girl. While she is FIV positive, that’s not a negative. She just needs regular vet visits like any kitty does to manage it. She loves attention, but she can do her own thing, too.

She enjoys exploring and window watching, treats, and just being with you. Would you be Mattie’s hero?
