Cuomo quits radio show to 'focus on what comes next'

Chris Cuomo says he is done hosting his radio show on SiriusXM after being fired by CNN over the weekend following an ethics scandal and an allegation of sexual misconduct.

"The way my time ended at CNN was hard," Cuomo said in a message posted to his Twitter account on Monday. "While I have thick skin, I also have a family, for whom the past week has been extraordinarily difficult."

Cuomo, who was accused of journalistic misconduct during the sexual harassment allegations against his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), added that it is time for him "to take a step back and focus on what comes next."

"I will no longer be doing my SiriusXm radio show," he said before adding that he is "grateful" for the "support" the satellite radio company has given him during his time on their airwaves.

"Following Chris Cuomo's statement that he is leaving his SiriusXM show, Let's Get After It will no longer air," SiriusXM said in a statement. "We thank Chris for his work at SiriusXM."

Cuomo was suspended by CNN earlier in the week and then was fired by the cable news company on Saturday afternoon after it said it had hired "a respected law firm to conduct the review" of the anchor's conduct.

After the suspension but before the firing, an attorney contacted CNN this week and informed it of a client with an allegation of sexual misconduct against Cuomo. A spokesperson for Cuomo has denied that allegation.

Cuomo was suspended after it was revealed he had coordinated with top aides to his brother to find out information about women who were talking to journalists or considering coming forward with accusations against the then-governor.

Before he was fired and during his radio show last week, Cuomo called his suspension from CNN "embarrassing."

"But I understand it. And I understand why some people feel the way they do about what I did. I've apologized in the past, and I mean it," he said. "It's the last thing I ever wanted to do, was compromise any of my colleagues and do anything but help. I know they have a process that they think is important. I respect that process, so I'm not going to talk about this any more than that."
