Bartlesville Vice Mayor Jim Curd soundly retained his Ward 3 seat on the city council over third-generation oil and gas worker Brandon Wade, while newcomer Loren Roszel beat Chelsie Wagoner in the open seat race for Ward 2.

But the tighter race went to incumbent Billie Roane after her opponent, John Maples, dropped out of the race before Tuesday's midterm elections.

Roszel gathered with friends, family and supporters at Cooper and Mill Brewery and sighed with relief when the final numbers came in. He spoke humbly and thanked everyone who supported him.

"I'm humbled that so many people in the city have encouraged and supported and worked on my behalf, and I am excited to get to work to grow our city and keep improving Bartlesville," said Roszel. "I know everyone in this city wasn't able to vote, but I get to go to work and vote for everyone in the city."

The EE was invited to the Wagoner watch party but was turned away at the door before the results came in. Wagoner couldn't be reached for comment.

Incumbent Billie Roane was expected to retain her ward after her opponent, John Maples, dropped out of the race for family reasons, but only won with 53% of the vote.

"Thank you, Ward 4 and all of Bartlesville, for your support," said Roane.

Incumbent and Vice Mayor Jim Curd won his district with 67% of the vote over little-known Wade.

"I'm proud and honored that my ward sent me back for another two years," said Curd. "I'm glad Brandon stepped up and got involved, and I'm happy to see anyone put themselves out there."

Wade, who had a primary run for a Democrat Senate seat early this year, plans to continue his foray into local politics.

"I feel l did pretty good all things considering going up against the vice mayor," said Wade, "I was really encouraged by the results and will continue to get involved."
