What is the current 'State of Roane County'?

On Tuesday, the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge will host Wade Creswell, Roane County executive, to discuss his plans and expectations for the county under his leadership.

The Lunch with the League event (available in person and virtually via Zoom), will be held at noon at the Unitarian Universalist Church Social Hall in Oak Ridge, according to a news release.

A lunch from The Soup Kitchen will be available for purchase or people can bring their own lunches. Coffee and tea will be provided.

The Zoom link for those who can't attend in person is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88033366660. Creswell's talk was postponed from an earlier date.

Creswell is a graduate of Roane County High School, Roane County Community College, and East Tennessee State University. He earned his master's degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Creswell has spent many years giving back to his community, according to the release. He started with service as a registered nurse at Roane Medical Center. After earning his MBA, he served as a vice president of the Michael Dunn Center. He also served as president and chief executive officer of the Roane Alliance, recruiting large industrial projects and hundreds of jobs for the county.

As a dedicated builder of coalitions and strategic leader solving mutual problems, he has served as president or CEO of numerous Roane County organizations.

As the recently elected Roane County executive, he is responsible for developing and maintaining responsible fiscal management and economic growth; being a key partner with the director of schools and County Commission to bring the best educational opportunities to students; and directing the numerous departments within the Roane County government.

The League welcomes members and nonmembers alike to all of its first and third Tuesday Lunch with the League gatherings.

The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge is a nonpartisan political organization for women and men. It encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
