Curtis Johnson secures re-election for Tennessee House District 68

Curtis Johnson won re-election in the Tennessee House of Representatives for District 68 race in Montgomery County Tuesday, Nov. 8, beating out Monica Meeks to secure the seat.

Johnson ended the night Tuesday with 13,500 ballots, earning 71% of the total vote. Meeks, finished with 5,469 ballots, 28.8% of votes.

Johnson celebrated the wide-margin win with supporters at Old Glory Distillery.

"I am just so proud of the margin that we won by," Johnson told the Leaf Chronicle via phone. "It has been an honor to serve Clarksville-Montgomery County the past 18 years."

Johnson plans to focus on infrastructure due to Tennessee rapid growth. A point of interest he stated included upcoming growth projects, such as an expansion of Interstate 24.

Johnson served as the former president to the Association on the U.S. Army TN/KY Chapter, the Austin Peay Alumni Association, the Clarksville Shrine Club and the Austin Peay Governors Club. He is also a graduate of Leadership Clarksville, a former member of the Clarksville County Council and former Mayor Pro Tem.

He graduated from Clarksville High School and received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Austin Peay State University. Johnson is a veteran of the United States Navy.
