Cuyahoga Falls Library hosts first Books & Dragons fantasy event

Adventurers of all ages are invited to don their best costumes and visit Cuyahoga Falls Library's Books & Dragons event on Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. This free event celebrates fantasy literature and popular tabletop role-playing games.

Attendees and their parties will participate in an immersive role-playing game, exploring the library to find treasure and defeat the dragon. Crafts, presentations, and Dungeons & Dragons gaming sessions will be available throughout the day.

Visit to design a 3D miniature character and learn to sew a dice bag in the library's MakerSpace. Adult and teen gamers will find opportunities to socialize with their community or play a one-off game of Dungeons & Dragons. Kids' crafts and activities will be available in the children's department. Participants will also have opportunities to win prizes and gift cards. Free light refreshments, including a special-edition bag of Metropolis Popcorn, will be available while supplies last.

Experts from Kent State University will present on the history and myths that inspire much of the fantasy genre. From noon-1 p.m., attendees will learn about Monsters in Medieval Europe from Dr. Lindsay Starkey, and Dr. Ann M. Martinez will share about J.R.R. Tolkien, Fantasy, and Dragons from 3 - 4 p.m.

The event is free, and there's no registration to participate. Activities, snacks, and crafts will be available first come, first served. For details, visit www.FallsLibrary.org/BooksAndDragons.
