British Airways is launching direct flights from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to London-Heathrow Airport on Monday. The inaugural flight will be on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Once up and running, flights will operate five times per week during the summer on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In the winter, they will run four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Tickets are on sale now on the British Airways website.

According to a press release, British Airways is CVG’s 14th passenger airline and the only nonstop flight to the United Kingdom from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. The new nonstop flight to London-Heathrow will also be CVG's second direct destination outside of North America after Delta Airlines resumed nonstop flights to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in August after a temporary halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CVG also offers direct flights to the following international destinations: Montego Bay, Jamaica; Los Cabos, Mexico; Cancun, Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and Toronto, Canada.

Third-party analysis estimates the CVG-LHR flight will have an annual economic impact of $57 million, CVG spokesperson Seth Cutter confirmed to The Enquirer.

The addition of this flight will make Cincinnati the 27th city in the U.S. to offer direct flights to London through British Airways. The new direct flight was named one of 13 best new international airline routes for 2023, according to Forbes.
