Cyber Legends launching game that teaches students cybersecurity and internet safety

In a digital world full of potential threats, how do we help educators, students and their parents learn about internet safety?

This is where Cyber Legends, the video game development company dedicated to teaching children about cybersecurity, comes into play.

“[The internet’s] a scary place to be when you consider that children are having access to technology at such a young age,” co-founder and CEO James Hayes said.

“If you give a child a streaming device when they’re three- to five-years-old, you might not see the repercussions of that, for instance, cyber-bullying [and] cyber-stalking… for ten years… because you have a child that’s growing into the technology but you’re not actually teaching them how to be safe.”

With Cyber Legends’ upcoming launch, the company plans to teach children how to be safe online through interactive games and activities. “I want to make sure that I protect as many children as possible to understand the risks that they are in, how to recognize them and how to get help if they are in that situation,” Hayes said about his hopes for the game.

"We're making sure educators and parents are problem-aware. We're giving them the tools to be able to teach safety, and then a fun game that reinforces it and that children want to play."

The game will be aligned across the U.S. and Canada to be included in school curriculums. It has launchedfor students in the first through third grades and then for students up to the sixth, seventh and eighth grades in January of next year.
