Cybersecurity problem still hampers CentraState, but hospital mostly 'back to normal'

CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township is shown Tuesday, April 14, 2020.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP − CentraState Medical Center is continuing to grapple with a cybersecurity issue, but is no longer diverting patients and ambulances to other locations for inpatient and emergency treatment, a spokeswoman said.

Some outpatient appointments have been postponed or canceled, Lori Palmer, CentraState spokeswoman said.

Other than that, operations are back to normal as far as staff and patients are concerned, Palmer said Wednesday morning.

The township hospital first discovered the cyber security issue early Friday. It prompted the facility on West Main Street to divert both patients and staff to other facilities with the exception of people who walked in to the emergency department, Palmer said last week.
