Cycle the Erie Canal bike tour follows 400 miles of historic New York state waterway
Cycle the Erie Canal bike tour riders past, present and future are invited to join the annual Parks & Trails New York’s event again — or for the first time — when the traditional eight-day travel adventure returns for its 24th year in July.
Riders will leave July 10 from Buffalo and arrive July 17 in Albany. The full 400-mile journey takes eight days, covering between 40 and 60 miles per day.
During the trip, cyclists will enjoy some of the finest scenery, most interesting history and unparalleled cycling in the United States. The route passes locks, aqueducts, historic villages and rural farmlands along the way.

Registration for Cycle the Erie Canal 2022 opened Jan. 5. This year, they have returned to the usual registration cap of 650 riders. There are two ride options: the eight-day trip from Buffalo to Albany or a four-day trip from Buffalo to Syracuse.
