Cycling Fans Cheer Tour de France Riders on 7,500-Foot-High Hill

Cyclists in the Tour de France faced a grueling climb on Wednesday, September 16, when they pedaled up a 7,500-foot alpine hill on the 17th day of the race.

These videos show cyclists taking on Col de la Loze, a steep mountain pass in the French Alps with an altitude of 2,300 meters. This marked a new addition to the race in Stage 17 of 21 day-long stages in the Tour de France, and the highest point of the race.

Typically a ski slope, the newly paved roadway allows mountain bikers to travel between Méribel and Courchevel, the Tour de France said. Credit: Sandra Joigne Périer via Storyful
