Cyclist fatally struck by car on Seward Highway onramp at Tudor Road

Nov. 2—A cyclist was struck and killed by a car on the northbound onramp at Tudor Road that connects to the Seward Highway Tuesday afternoon, the Anchorage Police Department said.

Police say they responded to the area at 12:40 p.m. with Anchorage Fire Department medics. The man, who was not identified, died at the scene, according to a police update.

The driver of the Subaru Legacy that collided with the cyclist remained on location and was cooperating with the investigation, police said. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

A preliminary investigation found that both the car and the cyclist were traveling northbound on the onramp when the collision occurred, police said. No additional details were available.

The onramp was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene and drivers were asked to use alternate routes. Shortly after 4 p.m., police said the onramp was reopened.

Seven bicyclists or pedestrians have died in collisions with vehicles so far this year, according to a police spokeswoman.
