Bicyclist seriously injured after being hit by SUV in Clinton County Sunday

A man was flown to an area hospital after an SUV hit him while riding his bicycle on State Route 730 in Union Township Sunday night.

The crash happened on state Route 730 southwest of Wilmington just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

The bicyclist, who was not identified, was going south on state Route 730 and was hit by an SUV also traveling south, a preliminary investigation found, according to state troopers.

The bicyclist was flown by CareFlight to an area hospital with injuries described as serious, state troopers said. The vehicle that hit the bicyclist didn’t stay at the scene and left before state troopers arrived.

Troopers believe the vehicle to be a Kia SUV, possibly a Sorento with damage to the right front and side of the SUV. That includes the passenger side mirror, headlight/fog light assembly, wheel well, and bumper.
