Cyclists rejoice: New bicycle dealership and repair shop opens near State College

A bicycle sales and repair shop opened Friday, giving Centre County cyclists another option in an industry that’s boomed after the pandemic.

Trek Bicycle, 321 Benner Pike in the Benner Pike Shops, markets itself as a one-stop shop for road, city, mountain and electric bikes. The 4,000-square-foot shop offers bikes, gear and service.

HFL Corp. President Fred Sahakian declined to share the length of the shop’s lease. The business is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Two people are employed at the store, service manager Zach Rinehimer said. Another position has not yet been filled.

The nearest Trek-branded stores to Centre County are in the Pittsburgh area and Lancaster. The bicycle manufacturer and distributor was founded in 1976.
