Czech pubs save energy costs on beer with tech

STORY: How much energy goes

into pouring a pint of beer?

A Czech brewery is turning to

technology to find out

Location: Prague, Czech Republic

The hope is that energy costs at

pubs can be reduced by 30 percent

The project is called ‘Smart Taproom’

(Jakub Zaoral, ‘Smart Taproom’ project leader)

"We will “X-ray” and observe 45 pubs using 1,200 sensors which gives us the exact numbers, how our tapping system consumes electricity, and we will relate this with the beer flow and its consumption in the pub."

The system collects data on beer flow

as well as tube and tap temperatures

The analyzed data will be used to give

recommendations on how to save energy
