DA: Life sentence after Mexican man murdered in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 32-year-old man was sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole on Thursday for the robbery and murder of a Mexican national, according to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office.

A Fresno County jury found 32-year-old Raymond Guido guilty at his trial, which concluded on November 28, 2023.

The DA says on December 30, 2022, officers with the Fresno Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex at Thomas and Jackson avenues regarding a shooting.

Officials say the victim, 40-year-old Luis Castillo, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Castillo was a Mexican national who came to Fresno to work and provide for his family who still live in Mexico.

Castillo had been living with his sister in Fresno for less than three months when Guido robbed and murdered him, according to the DA’s office.

Officials say at the time of the murder, Guido had been on parole for four months for an assault with a semi-automatic firearm.
