Da’Shawn Hand returns to practice, designated for return from Lions’ IR

More reinforcements to the Detroit Lions defensive line could be coming soon. The Lions officially designated DE Da’Shawn Hand for return from the injured reserve on Wednesday.

Hand attended practice and worked out with the team. Detroit now has 21 days to either activate Hand back to the 53-man roster or lose him for the rest of the season to injured reserve. He has yet to play in 2021 with a groin injury suffered during preseason.

Hand, a fourth-round pick in 2018 out of Alabama, has flashed some pass-rushing talent in his time in Detroit. Keeping him on the field has been an issue; Hand has played in just 26 of a possible 54 games due to various injuries and has made an appearance on the team’s IR in each of his four seasons.

He joins LT Taylor Decker and DE Kevin Strong as players designated to return from the Lions IR list. Decker and Strong were designated for return last week but have yet to rejoin the 53-man active roster.
