DACC culinary arts student wins annual Edible Storybook Contest

Community snapshot: A Doña Ana Community College student in the culinary arts program took home a first-place medal in the second annual Edible Storybook Contest held April 9 at New Mexico State University. DACC student Eva Perez took first place in her division, "Most Appetizing," for her entry "Crime & Punishment." DACC Culinary Arts Chefs Cecilia Castro and Jen Hart both won first place in two divisions, "Most Visually Appealing" and "People’s Choice," for their entry on "Alice in Wonderland." The Edible Storybook Contest coincides with the international Edible Book Day, which is celebrated around the first of April. It is a time for book and food lovers to join with book artists and appreciate their love for reading and eating. Typically, edible books are created, displayed and voted on before being eaten.
