Dad of 2 killed in motorcycle wreck ahead of his wedding, GA family says. ‘No words’

A 24-year-old dad was killed in a Memorial Day weekend motorcycle wreck months before he was set to be married, Georgia officials and family members say.

Cherokee County deputies said Tyler Cole Letson was driving his motorcycle around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, on Highway 92 when a car trying to turn onto the highway pulled in front of him. Letson was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the other car and a child passenger were also taken to a hospital with injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The driver had serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the child had minor injuries.

Letson was a father to two young girls, and he was set to be married later this year, his fiancee, Haley Brookshire, wrote on Facebook.

Brookshire and Letson met in middle school and reconnected years later, Letson’s family told WANF. He had a 3-year-old daughter and was adopting a 4-year-old who he raised with Brookshire.

“He was an inspiration to a lot of people. He made friends with everyone that he was around. He had a lot going for him, his life was just getting started,” Letson’s dad told the news outlet.

“My sweet boy. I have no words,” Brookshire wrote in another Facebook post. “I love you til my last breath and long after, this was not where we were suppose to end. I’d give anything for you to come home.”

“Instead of planning a wedding we are planning a funeral,” a family member wrote in a GoFundMe post. “He was so loving, caring, generous, thoughtful and so much more to so many people.”

Cherokee County is about 40 miles north of Atlanta.
