Your Daily Briefing: Still need Mother's Day brunch reservations? Here's where to start.

The Daily Briefing is The Tennessean's morning round-up of today's news that matters most to you. Best enjoyed with a cup of coffee, it's also available directly in your inbox, bright and early, seven days a week. Sign up here.

Hello Nashville!

Food writer Mackensy Lunsford here. I hope you're ready for what's looking like a very busy weekend for Music City. A confluence of big-name concerts, graduations and other events means extra traffic, some street closures and a variety of other headaches. If you choose to stay home and out of the fray, let me suggest you think about food instead.

Have you thought about where to dine for Mother's Day? Yep, it's next weekend. Your chances of making reservations are getting slimmer by the minute, so get to that. May I make some suggestions?

Disclaimer: Every one of the restaurants at the link above had seats available when I put the list together, but your mileage may vary. There are a few surprises among my Mother's Day picks, too, including a steakhouse. Think moms aren't into that? As a meat-eating and grilling mom myself, let me put that notion to rest.

Here's another idea that just dropped into my inbox if you're looking for other ideas, particularly if you have a more traditional mom to treat:

Mason’s at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel (2100 West End Ave.) will host Mother’s Day Brunch on May 14, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. In addition to a regular brunch menu and specialty cocktails, there will also be live music, customizable bouquets, neck massages and cookie-decorating for kids. Brunch is $75 per adult and includes a complimentary welcome cocktail. It's $35 for children under 10. Make reservations through this Resy link or at 615-320-1700.

Good luck and stay safe out there, Nashville!
