Daily Devotional: Life Weaver

"We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose." — Romans 8:28 NRSV

Corrie ten Boom was touring a rug factory in France shortly after the Second World War. They made the kind of rugs many don’t put on the floor, but hang as beautiful tapestries. As the tour came to an end, Corrie asked one of the young ladies who worked as a weaver a question.

“What do you do when you realize you’ve made a mistake? Do you pull out all of the work you’ve done and start over? Do you cut out the mistake and make a patch?”

“Oh no,” was the reply. “When we realize we’ve made a mistake and deviated from the plan, the first thing we do is stop. Then we go over to that room over there. That is where the master rug weaver works. He comes out with the original plan and begins to compare it with what we have done. Then he re-creates the plan, taking our mistake and incorporating it into the overall pattern. And our mistakes are then transformed into some of the most beautiful rugs.”

God has a plan for our lives. By now, most of us have messed that up a time or two. But if we stop and give our lives — mistakes and all — back to our Life Weaver, He can redesign our lives.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for transforming my mistakes and failures into some of the most amazing and unimaginable good things. I’m letting go of my plans today — I’m in Your Hands.

Have faith. It all comes right.
