Daily Digit: An alarming amount of people have died taking selfies

Daily Digit is the story behind the numbers that make our world work. Today we’re looking at selfies. A total of 259 people died taking selfies between 2011 and 2017, according to a new report. The study found that men engage in riskier behavior than women, resulting in nearly three times as many deaths for men. The highest number of casualties was among 10- to 29-year-olds. The total number of deaths might actually be higher than 259, since selfie deaths are often attributed to other causes. The study concludes that “no-selfie zones” should be declared in certain areas to prevent further deaths.
